Kenny Longaker’s Story
The Bering Sea is one of the best places to catch wild Alaskan Pollock. McDonald’s is another. From the dock at Dutch Harbor, Kenny Longaker sets out on his boat, the Defender, to catch the wild Alaskan Pollock used in the Filet-O-Fish® sandwich.
Alaskan Pollock is a fast-growing species. This natural tendency, along with careful management of the Bering Sea Pollock population, helps ensure that there will be Pollock to enjoy for many years to come.
“The Pollock we catch are filleted and frozen within about 24 to 72 hours after being caught, and it’s the quality McDonald’s expects.” – Kenny Longaker
Not only are Kenny’s preparation methods appreciated—his standards for sustainability are as well. Our wild-caught Alaskan Pollock is sustainably sourced by the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute and certified by the Marine Stewardship Council. For more information, visit www.msc.org.
