Binay Moktan’s story begins in Nepal, he grew up in a remote village of just 300 people. Being from the mountains, the first time he had ever seen the ocean was when he arrived in the UAE in 1988 – but the luxury cars also left an impression too!

He recalls the feeling of excitement upon his arrival and loved living and working with  people from all over the world – he felt that ‘we were all in it together,’ and admired the fact that no matter where you were from, the UAE (as it does to this day) did not discriminate).

Almost 30 years later, Binay and his family now call the UAE their home, and his remarkable journey has seen him come from a village of 300, to leading 7000 people as the HR director of McDonald’s UAE. A fitting role for a man who values the respect and tolerance he found in when he first arrived in the UAE – as he actively ensures all McDonald’s UAE employees have the same experience.
