MCDONALD’S DONATES FUNDING TO DISTRIBUTE FIVE MILLION MEALS TO FARESHARE
The new investment will help families most in need this winter
McDonald’s UK is today announcing a new partnership with FareShare to provide five million meals for families in need. The funding from McDonald’s will enable FareShare to redistribute food to families who need it most.
Michelle Graham-Clare, Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer said:
“As a business we are committed to supporting and serving the communities in which we operate. In these continued times of uncertainty, we know it’s still so important to support those most in need.
“Last year, during incredibly uncertain times, we were proud to be able to donate surplus food through FareShare and other organisations, and we admire the fantastic work that FareShare continues to do to support families facing very tough situations. I am pleased to support the distribution of five million meals to families most in need, and I wish to thank and congratulate FareShare for everything they’re doing.”
The funding for the five million meals will kick off a year of activity to support the charity, including in restaurant fundraising and working across the McDonald’s supply chain to provide surplus food to FareShare.
Lindsay Boswell, FareShare CEO said:
"We are incredibly grateful to McDonald’s for their kindness and generosity this winter, which will provide much needed help to many thousands of people across the UK who are facing highly challenging circumstances.
The funding will enable the equivalent of five million meals to be redistributed to our network of over 10,000 charities."
McDonald’s and FareShare are proud members of the End Child Food Poverty Taskforce and supports the group’s efforts to end food poverty across the UK.
Marcus Rashford MBE said:
“Since joining the Child Food Poverty Taskforce, McDonald’s has continued to show great commitment to the cause, and this Christmas period is no different. A time that should be met with joy and togetherness, will be met with stress, anxiety, and sadness for many struggling families. I’m so pleased and thankful to McDonald’s for taking a proactive step in alleviating some of that worry, by partnering with FareShare on the distribution of 5 million vital meals.”
