What are the business aims and objectives for McDonald's in the U.K.?
May 21, 2018
McDonald's has run its business in the UK since 1974. We've loved every minute of it, and we currently operate around 1,300 restaurants across Britain and Ireland alone. Our number one priority? Serving quality food that our customers love and can trust. Having said all that, McDonald's is about more than just food. It's about our suppliers, franchisees and employees working together. It's about the skills and opportunities we offer and the ways in which we support our local communities. For example, we invest £43 million every year on training and development, offering our people clear career progression. In fact, 9 out of 10 restaurant managers and 1 in 5 franchisees started as restaurant crew members. On top of this, more than 80% of our restaurants in the UK are owned and operated by local businessmen and women. While we source the majority of our ingredients from over 23,000 British and Irish farms.
As a result of this ethos, our restaurants are very much part of the local community. We lead and support a range of community activities from litter picking patrols to charity events and local football matches. As you may know, we have a long tradition of supporting community football, and for over 10 years we have supported initiatives to encourage young people into football, through training for coaches and volunteers at local clubs. We couldn't be more proud of our achievements.
