Can Happy Meal® toys be recycled?

March 17, 2025

All our Happy Meal® paper and card toys, books, as well as the packaging can be recycled at home. Aluminium toys can be recycled alongside drinks cans either at home or at local recycling facilities. Plush toys can be rehomed at a charity shop or recycled at specific textile banks and household waste recycling centres at the end of life.

In the UK, we’ve teamed up with Wastebuster through the Recycle to Read programme to encourage families to rehome or recycle any old or broken small hard plastic toys, once they’ve finished playing with them.

Recycle to Read is a collective initiative that is building a new system for recycling plastic toys, while donating books to schools to support children’s literacy.

Toy collections are launching soon! Schools can sign up now, so communities can begin earning Planet Care Points for when the programme launches.
