About

Before McDonald’s

I led an IT subsidiary business and my role was very similar to franchising with McDonald’s. It was all about running your own business while working within a single brand with shared resources.

My connection with McDonald’s

How a company treats people through the interview process is a real marker of how it treats the people they work and partner with. McDonald’s engaged with me on any questions that I had. I knew that I was working with a partner that is genuinely invested in and aligned to building a successful partnership with me.

What inspired me to become a McDonald’s Franchisee

McDonald’s has a laser focus on delivering excellence and to be the best that we can be for each other, our customers and communities. I learned that McDonald’s has a diverse workforce, is serious about putting its people first and treats everyone in a fair and equal manner.

I had a number of other business opportunities. But I was inspired to become a Franchisee because I wanted to partner with, and be a part of, the best in the world.

Top insight

You’ve got to be sure you can work here, as it’s usually a 20-year term. The business genuinely wants you to be successful. It did surprise me how different the business actually works in practice. I knew it was ‘people first’, but there’s a lot more to it than that. If you don’t like working with people, then it’s not for you!

My growth

I became a Franchisee in February 2019 and now have eight restaurants – I can’t really complain!
